Since the lining material of medium frequency electric furnace is relatively expensive, and furnace construction takes quite a long time, it is worthwhile to prolong the service life of the furnace lining even by one more use. However, pursuing one extra use may lead to penetration of the furnace lining by molten iron, which brings severe consequences and even endangers the safety of equipment and personal safety. This requires us to accurately judge the service life of the furnace lining. Here, the editor from Luoyang Wanle Medium Frequency Electric Furnace summarizes the judgment methods for you!
Based on years of practical experience, the methods for judging furnace lining life are summarized as follows:
(1) Estimate the furnace lining life according to previous experience. When the furnace lining is approaching the end of its life, observe the frequency meter, voltmeter, ammeter and other meters of the electric furnace. If the pointers of these meters swing continuously under normal working conditions, the furnace lining will be exhausted after the current working cycle, and shall not be used again.
(2) When the operator feels an electric shock when touching molten iron with an iron rod during normal slag skimming, observe the working sound of the electric furnace. If the sound turns "muffled", and the sound changes significantly when molten iron is tapped, it indicates that molten iron has invaded the furnace lining and even penetrated it. The molten iron in the furnace shall be properly treated and the furnace shall not be used again.
(3) When the working sound of the furnace turns obviously "muffled", and the power supply cuts off automatically when the furnace shell contacts other grounding bodies, it indicates that molten iron has penetrated the furnace lining. You shall immediately cut off the power supply, pour out the molten iron in the furnace and stop using the furnace.
